70% hemp, 30% peace silk
Silk is made using the cocoons of silkworms. Traditional silk is harvested before the silkworms emerge. Manufactures gas, steam or boil the silkworms before collecting the cocoons. According to PETA 3,000 silkworms are killed to make one pound of silk. Peace silk is cruelty free, and allows the moths emerge and fly away before the cocoons are collected.
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR FABRIC:
* Press with a hot iron; using steam works wonders!
* Launder with natural soap by hand or gentle machine wash, drip dry
* After washing, iron while still damp
Like other natural fabrics, hempsilks will 'heather', i.e. soften and become more textured with each washing (think 'flannel sheets').
